The Marathon Project came back in 2025 with a bigger, bolder mission to provide a premier race weekend experience for professionals and amateurs alike, providing each participant the opportunity to run as fast as possible. A limited-field, high-level amateur race kicked off the weekend on Saturday. Participants were treated like the pros with personal bottles out on the course, an indoor warmup area, a bag drop at the start, and pace groups from 2:20:00 to 3:30:00.

NO RACE in the world offers all of these amenities to amateur runners. Then on Sunday the amateurs can sit back, relax, and watch the pros attack the same course they had run the day before. And it’s a viewing experience unlike any other in annual professional marathoning. The loop course gives fans a chance to see the athletes 12 times just by staying in one spot. Like the Olympic games, the criterium style layout makes for an electric atmosphere for fans.
