PHOENIX 10K & MARATHON

The two premier running events will take place this fall in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.

CHANDLER, Ariz., May 20, 2025 –  The Marathon Project has announced a partnership with the Phoenix 10K & Marathon that will benefit both organizations and give local runners an opportunity to enjoy two world-class race weekends in the Phoenix area.

Founded by Dr. Art Mollen in 1976, The Phoenix 10K & Marathon is one of The Valley’s longest-running and most historic endurance events. This year’s race, to be held on November 9, will be a special one as the event will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. To mark the occasion, event organizers have added a full marathon option for the first time, in addition to a 5k, a half marathon, and the traditional 10k.

A little over a month later, on December 20 and 21, The Marathon Project will return to Chandler, Ariz. for the first time since 2020 when it was held as a professional-only race during the Covid-19 pandemic. This year’s event will include a high-level amateur marathon and a 5k open to runners of all ages and abilities on Saturday, and a professional marathon featuring top athletes from around the world on Sunday.

The partnership between the two organizations includes a volunteer exchange program, discounts for runners who participate in both events, and other promotional events throughout the year.

Phoenix 10K & Marathon founder, Dr. Art Mollen, talked about how the two events will work together.

“We are excited to partner with such an elite marathon like The Marathon Project,” Mollen said. ”The Phoenix 10K & Marathon will be taking their lead to create one of the best marathons in the country and their expertise will greatly assist us.”

The Marathon Project co-founder and CEO, Ben Rosario, said that becoming a part of the local community in Phoenix is a focus for his organization.

“Each and every year we want to give runners and sports fans in The Valley an opportunity to witness and participate in what we believe will be one of the fastest marathons in the world,” Rosario said. “But we also want to be active members of the running community throughout the year and this partnership with the Phoenix 10K & Marathon is the first step.”

Both events will include prize money for top finishers. The Phoenix 10K & Marathon prize purse is available on their website. The Marathon Project purse will be announced this summer.
