2025:

Episode Thirteen - Jack Mullaney
Jack Mullaney is the head coach of the HOKA NAZ Elite team in Flagstaff, Arizona. During his just over two years at the helm, HOKA NAZ Elite athletes have set team records at nearly every distance from 1500 meters to the marathon and produced top-10 finishes at the World Championships and the Olympic Games on the track, two USATF national titles on the road, and a World Marathon Major podium finish. In this episode he talks about his coaching philosophy and why two of his athletes will be racing at TMP.

Episode Twelve -
Scott Fauble
Scott Fauble, one of the best American marathoners of the last decade, announced his retirement on the Inside The Marathon Project Podcast. “Faubs” was a fan favorite for his humor on social media as the self-proclaimed leader of the “burrito mafia,” but mostly for his fearless, go-to-the-well racing style. At the 2019 Boston Marathon, he took the lead through the Newton Hills, whittling the lead pack down before eventually finishing seventh place in 2:09:09. It was one of five top-10 finishes at World Marathon Majors for Fauble who also finished fourth at the Olympic Trials over 10,000 meters in 2016, represented the United States at the World Cross Country Championships, and was a mainstay at the front of the country’s top road races from 2015 to 2024.

Episode Eleven -
Johannes Motschmann
A rising star in German distance running, Johannes Motschmann is one of the favorites to take home the $10,000 first prize at The Marathon Project 2025. He and Steve Sievert discuss his NCAA career at Iona University, why he moved from the steeplechase to the marathon, his goals for TMP, and more. If you’re looking for someone to cheer for in the men’s professional race, we highly recommend you listen to Johannes and get to know him. He’s an easy guy to root for!

Episode Ten -
Jared Ewing
One of the most inspiring stories of The Marathon Project 2025 is that of Jared Ewing. Jared, who is scheduled to participate in The Gold Wave, nearly lost his life, and his leg, in a terrible accident when he was hit by a car in December of 2018. Through the miracles of modern medicine, doctors saved his leg but he lost the muscles in his calf as well as his achilles tendon. Though walking seemed like a tall order at first, he has gone on to run marathons, ultramarathons, and will be trying to break 3 hours at The Marathon Project.

Episode Nine - Katie Sutton
The Marathon Project’s Co-Owner and Director of Athlete Experience, Katie Sutton, shares her own story and talks about all the cool things going on at TMP. “If The Marathon Project had been around when I was running, I would have been the first person to sign up.” - Katie

Episode Eight -
Jackie Gaughan
Jackie lives and trains in Boston where she works full-time in the finance industry in addition to her life as a professional athlete. Her 2:24:40 at the 2024 California International Marathon featured a giant negative split (1:14:19/1:10:21), waking the American distance running world up to her talents, and her story…which she shares in this episode.

Episode Seven -
Noah Droddy
An amazing episode with one of the most interesting characters in American marathoning over the last decade, Noah Droddy. Noah talks about his rise from “D3 guy,” to sponsored professional athlete, to eventually running 2:09:09 at The Marathon Project. He also talks extensively about the process of retiring from pro running and moving on to the next stage of life.

Episode Six -
Michael Arishita
Michael talks about launching Blank’s Sports Nutrition, his career as a pro triathlete, balancing life as an athlete and an entrepreneur (tease—it’s not easy), and why he’s so passionate about Blank’s. This is a great listen for anyone interested in the business side of the sport, how to properly fuel for a marathon, or that wants to be inspired by someone who is not afraid to chase his dreams.

Episode Five -
Paige Wood
Paige talks about jumping into the marathon (at The Marathon Project 2020) earlier than planned because of the Pandemic. She also talks about motherhood, her patient return to competition postpartum, her third-place finish at the 2025 Grandma’s Marathon, and much more. Paige is one of the favorites for TMP 2025 and this episode is a great listen.

Episode Four -
JP Flavin
JP is coming off a career best performance at the Boston Marathon in April where he ran 2:10:50 to finish 16th place. JP talked to host Steve Sievert about Boston, his college career , his high school days, and what it’s like to run high mileage with the Hansons Brooks team where he’s doing things he never thought possible.

Episode Three -
Rory Linketter
Rory has become one of the best Canadian marathoners of all time after a string of world class performances including a sixth-place finish in 2:07:07 at April’s Boston Marathon. Rory talked to host Steve Sievert about Boston, his career thus far, coaching changes, ambitions for next month’s Chicago Marathon and much more. It’s an awesome listen.
