All Professional Athlete Race Participants receive:

- Flat, fast, criterium-style course (same as 2020)
- Great weather (average high of 68 and low of 45)
- Pace groups (to be created as necessary from 2:06:00 to 2:35:00)
- Personal bottles sponsored by Blank’s Sports Nutrition
- Indoor warmup area
- Last minute bag drop-off
- Marathon Project swag bag

In addition to all of the above, the top 15 seeds (determined by organizer discretion) will receive complimentary travel plus three nights lodging at the Sheraton Grand.

Any athlete that finishes in the top 15 that did not receive travel or lodging will receive a $1,000 travel/lodging stipend post race (in addition to prize money).

2025 Prize Purse to be announced by no later than July 1, 2025.

Pro Race Invitational Entry Process:

UPDATED APRIL 1, 2025: Welcome to our second wave of registration for the Professional Race! All language below has been updated and applies to all athletes who register for the Professional Race between April 2, 2025 and October 31, 2025.

The Marathon Project Professional Race will consist of 100 men and 100 women as selected by race organizers. Athletes who have run under 2:20:00 (men) or 2:40:00 (women) are encouraged to apply, as are athletes with comparable times at shorter distances. Athletes who have run above 2:20:00 (men) or 2:40:00 (women) are encouraged to register for the Gold Wave.

Rolling Application Process between April 2, 2025 and November 9, 2025: Our race management team will review all registrations and verify times each week. The applicant's status will be determined as soon as that process is complete. As soon as an athlete is accepted, their credit card will be charged* and they will be officially entered into The Marathon Project. They will receive an email notifying them of their acceptance. Athletes who are not accepted will also be notified via email.

*All entrants who have run under 2:12:00 (men) or under 2:28:00 (women) since December 20, 2020 will receive a complimentary entry (if accepted). Additional comp entries are up to the race organizer's discretion. If you have run under these times, please register HERE so that we have all of your information, but you will not be charged. Our team will reach out to you or your representative individually.

World Class Athlete Recruitment Process: To athlete representatives working with world-class athletes (sub 2:09:00 men and/or sub 2:25:00 women), please contact Ben Rosario at ben@themarathonproject.com or Katie Sutton at katie@themarathonproject.com for more information. We aim to finalize our professional fields by September 1, 2025, in order to allow for proper race promotion and promotion of your athletes.

November 10, 2025: Registration closes. The only entry exceptions beyond this date will be reserved for special circumstances.

Refund / Deferment Policy: The Marathon Project does not offer refunds. We do, however, offer a generous deferment policy. If you choose not to race in 2025 for any reason--including pregnancy/postpartum, you may defer your entry to the 2026 edition of The Marathon Project. Deferments are non-transferable and cannot be sold. Each entry is eligible for only one deferment.
